Roberta Chambers Roberta Chambers has a made a career of public service — actually, three careers. She was an educator and a registered nurse before turning to law.
“No matter what I did, it had to be meaningful and purposeful,” she says.
Ms. Chambers was born in Jamaica West Indies, moving to New York where she earned her bachelor’s degree at St. John’s University and her law degree at City University of New York.
“Law can change people’s lives, and it can change the direction of a community,” she says.
Ms. Chambers is intent on making sure it is a positive change. She provides legal consultations to neighborhood organizations and free legal counsel to members of the large immigrant population of Queens Village, New York, and surrounding areas of Cambria Heights, Springfield Gardens, St. Albans, Jamaica, Hollis and Laurelton.
Ms. Chambers is a member of the Community Legal Resource Network of CUNY Law School and a member of the Board of Governors of the Committee for Early Childhood Development.
